Child Hit by Baltimore Police Cruiser

July 21, 2010

Baltimore police say a 5-year-old child was struck by a police cruiser.

Police spokesman Detective Jeremy Silbert says a marked patrol car struck the unidentified child on Sheridan Avenue in North Baltimore on Tuesday night.

Silbert says the child was taken to a local hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening. Silbert says initial reports indicate the officer was on routine patrol and not responding to a call.

The crash is being investigated by the department's accident investigating unit.
