Va. Beach Bans Swimming Due to Bacteria

July 21, 2010

Virginia Beach health officials have prohibited swimming and wading in the North End between 83rd and 89th streets because of high bacteria levels in the water.

The Virginia Beach Department of Public Health said Wednesday the ban is in effect until tests show bacteria levels meet state water quality standards.

Signs will be posted in the affected area to notify the public that swimming and wading are prohibited.
