Dale Ray Parrott, age 74 from Charlottesville, and passenger Shirley Ann Parrott, 58, were killed Saturday afternoon after being sideswiped by another vehicle on Route 20, just north of Route 609 in Orange County.
Authorities say a 1995 Jeep Cherokee driven by 51-year-old Mildred Sue Ferguson, of Charlottesville, crossed a no passing line traveling north, when it struck the Explorer driven by Parrott.
Both Dale and Shirley Parrott were killed at the scene. Ferguson was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center in unknown condition.
After sideswiping the Explorer driver by Parrott, Ferguson's Jeep Cherokee was then struck by an oncoming Land Rover SUV. Both occupants of the Land Rover were flown to UVa Medical Center as well.
The conditions of 61-year-old Darryl R. Crump, from Orange, and 64-year-old Joan Ann Crump are not known.
The accident remains under investigation and charges have not been filed as of this time.
