A Birthday Bash for Va.'s Executive Mansion

March 16, 2013

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia's Executive mansion is marking two centuries.

Gov. Bob McDonnell and first lady Maureen McDonnell have invited the public to join them Saturday as they celebrate the 200th birthday of Virginia governors' official residence. The celebration has been moved to the Library of Virginia because of the threat of rain.

The birthday party will include food vendors and entertainment, including the National Guard's 29th Division band.

The day will also include the dedication of a new state historical marker issued by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.

To conclude the evening, a documentary called "First House" will premiere. It chronicles the history of the Executive Mansion.
