WASHINGTON (AP) - It's "Adoption Day" at the D.C. Superior Court.
The 27th annual ceremony takes place at the courthouse Saturday.
More than 20 adoptions will be finalized at the ceremony, and all children adopted in the city within the last year are invited to attend along with their families.
Each child and his or her family will be introduced, and a judge will then sign their adoption decree.
Officials say the goal of the event is to celebrate adoption and to encourage residents to consider adopting or fostering a child in the city's public welfare system.
