A man arrested for allegedly crashing a school bus while he was high on bath salts has escaped from Western State Hospital.
Sgt. Brian Edwards with the Waynesboro Police Department says Joseph Henschel, 34, is likely wearing khaki shorts, brown shoes and a white t-shirt.
The Staunton News Leader reports he escaped from a closed ward around 9:30 p.m. between the once-every-30-minutes checks the nurses make.
Henschel was arrested in March and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and intentional destruction of private property. He allegedly stole the bus from an auto repair shop and later crashed it into a building.
Anyone with information on Henschel's whereabouts is asked to contact the Waynesboro Police Department at 540-942-6675.
