CNU Accidentally Sends Acceptance Letters to 2,000 Applicants

February 24, 2011

Christopher Newport University accidentally e-mailed acceptance letters to 2,000 prospective students.

The Daily Press of Newport News reports that five hours after the e-mails were sent Wednesday, the university sent an apology and informed the applicants that the letters were transmitted by mistake. The school blamed the problem on human error.

The university says the admissions status for students who have already received acceptance letters in the mail hasn't changed.

Christopher Newport will send decision letters via regular mail by March 15.
