Central Virginia Bus Crashes Injure About a Dozen Students

April 4, 2012

Separate crashes involving school buses in the Richmond area sent about a dozen students to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to media reports, one crash Tuesday involved a Henrico County school bus and a pickup truck. Five people on the bus and two in the pickup were treated for injuries that emergency personnel said were not life threatening.

The students were from a private school for children with special needs.

The other crash Tuesday involved seven students from Midlothian High School, also in suburban Richmond. They suffered cuts and bruises after their bus was struck head-on by an ice cream truck.

The driver of the ice cream truck suffered minor injuries. The bus driver was treated for serious injuries.
