An inmate who escaped from the Chesapeake Correctional Center is back in custody after spending more than a week on the run.
Police tell media outlets that 40-year-old Clancy Dan Starling was arrested Wednesday afternoon at a Greyhound bus station in Richmond.
Starling slipped through a chain-link fence in the jail's outdoor recreation yard on June 11. Jail officers didn't discover Starling was missing until a headcount the next morning.
The Chesapeake Sheriff's Office fired two deputies following the escape. Four other inmates are charged with helping Starling escape.
Starling was serving 17 years for a probation violation and grand larceny. He faces up to five more years behind bars if he's convicted of escape.
