RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Abstracts of Chesterfield County Circuit Court criminal records could soon be available for online public viewing.
Circuit Court Clerk Judy Worthington has asked the Virginia Supreme Court to allow online public viewing of the abstracts through the state's computerized case management system.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Worthington won't release records for civil cases online. That means the high court's judicial-services unit has to make a programming change to segregate Chesterfield's criminal and civil data.
The criminal records could be available online within two months.
The move will leave Henrico County Circuit Court as the only one court in Virginia that blocks online access to public records.
