Coach Mike London Shares Leadership Strategies

January 26, 2011

University of Virginia head football coach, Mike London, shared some of his leadership strategies Wednesday with a group at the annual Leadership Charlottesville luncheon.

Coach London talked about the program's principles of showing class, going to class and treating people with respect.

And his dedication to classwork is paying off. London's current players have the highest cumulative GPA the football program has seen in more than a decade. The second-year coach says leading a stronger team begins with service.

"We're all servants to a certain extent. I was honored and very privileged to talk to a group that is committed to making this a better community," he said.

Charlottesville Mayor, Dave Norris, received the Leaders' Leader Award for his service.

"There are a lot of people in Charlottesville that really go the extra mile to give back to the community and get involved in public service and community service. It's a great city," said Mayor Norris.
