Construction Worker Causes Weapons Scare at School

August 23, 2013

A construction worker allegedly sleeping off a drug high at Stuarts Draft Middle School caused a scare when weapons were spotted in his vehicle.

Media outlets report that 28-year-old Brent Painter was arrested Friday.

A teacher on parking lot duty found Painter sleeping in his vehicle. The teacher reported that Painter had a gun and crossbow in the backseat, sparking alarm.

Authorities later discovered it was an air-powered BB gun and here were no arrows with the crossbow.

Officials say Painter smoked meth on Thursday night and then drove to work to sleep it off before his shift on a school construction project.

He has been charged with public intoxication and obstruction of justice. Painter does not face weapons charges.
