Culpeper Police Investigate Suspicious Death

June 5, 2012

Culpeper police are investigating an unattended death that is termed as suspicious.

About 7:30 p.m., Monday, police were called to the 1100 block of Meander Drive for the unattended death of a 35-year-old man.

The man has been identified as Ramiro Rodriguez de la Rosa. His body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Manassas for an autopsy. The medical examiner has not yet determined a cause of death. Authorities are awaiting the results of toxicology tests before making that determination.

“We are treating this death as suspicious due to the age of the victim,” said Detective Sgt. Jeff Dodson, lead investigator on the case.

As part of the investigation, police have learned that the victim may have been involved in an altercation at the Sleepy Hollow Trailer Park between 12:30 and 12:45 a.m.

“We are not sure if the alleged altercation is related to the unattended death,” said Dodson.

Detectives from the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information about the death or the alleged altercation may anonymously contact Crime Solvers where callers never have to give their name or testify in court to earn a cash reward. Callers may also contact Dodson at 540-829-5526.
