Culpeper police are seeking to identify two persons of interest allegedly involved in the theft of a wallet from a shopping cart in Wal-Mart on June 2.
Police said a female customer left her purse in a shopping cart at the register about 1:30 p.m., and when she returned her wallet was missing. The man behind her allegedly took the wallet from the purse and immediately left the store, said Sgt. Jeff Dodson. When the man reentered the store he did not have the wallet in his hand.
The wallet contained money, credit cards and personal papers.
Police are trying to identify the man described as a white male, between 30 and 40 years old. The man, who is balding, has long black hair in a pony tail. He was wearing a tie-dyed shirt.
The white female with him is described as a heavy set brunette about the same age. She wore a blue shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information about the pair may anonymously call Crime Solvers at 540-727-0300 where callers never have to give their name or testify in court to earn a cash reward. Callers may also contact Detective Sgt. Jeff Dodson at 540-829-5526.
