Dominion Virginia Power is urging customers to focus on electrical safety heading into the warmer months.
The Richmond energy provider says spring and summer weather mean more outdoor activities like gardening, cleaning out gutters, painting houses, and building patios and decks.
Dominion says customers should use caution around electricity, especially around wires, transformers and poles. The company says to assume that any power line is energized and dangerous.
Among the company's safety tips are: locating and staying away from overhead power lines and making sure underground lines are marked before digging.
Dominion also is cautioning customers about safely using portable generators.
