Driver Charged in Death of Va. Roller Derby Player

December 22, 2010

A March 8 trial has been set for a Harrisonburg man accused of causing a wreck that killed a roller derby player.

The Daily News-Record reports that a Rockingham County grand jury indicted 28-year-old Anthony C. Cesar on Monday on a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence.

The charge stems from an Aug. 25 accident on Sky Road that killed 26-year-old Jennifer Moreland. State Police say Moreland was a passenger in a car driven by Cesar that ran off the road, hit an embankment and flipped on its side.

Moreland was a member of the Harrisonburg-based Rocktown Rollers.

Cesar is being held without bond at the Rockingham County Jail.
