Democrats Blame Cantor During Debt Talks

July 14, 2011

President Obama will hold a White House news conference Friday as time grows short to avoid a government default.

August 2 is the day America hits its credit limit.

The president and congressional leaders met for the fifth time in as many days Thursday on the debt crisis, but there's no deal in sight.

As the clock winds down on the nation's credit, a war of words is boiling over and a Central Virginia congressman is right in the middle of it.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor looks to be the fall guy for Democrats.

The Senate's top Democrat, Harry Reid, says Cantor shouldn't even be part of the talks anymore, calling his behavior at the talks "childish."

Meanwhile Cantor says he didn't mean any disrespect to President Obama.

Talks ended abruptly Wednesday when the president stormed out after lecturing Cantor on the need to compromise.
