KESWICK, Va. (AP) - Albemarle County firefighters plan to change how they respond to rural fires following a fire earlier this year that killed a woman and two children.

The Daily Progress says a recent report by Albemarle Fire and Rescue found several issues regarding the January fire in Keswick. They include a disruption in the water supply to tankers, confusion between the first units to arrive on the scene and a shortage of command personnel at the scene.

Changes prompted by the report include standardizing procedures for supplying water to rural fires. A command team will be established to reduce confusion at large fires.

County spokeswoman Lee Catlin says county staff will support the department's recommendations.
