Fire Destroys Church in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - Newport News fire officials are investigating an early morning fire that destroyed a church.

Media outlets say the fire at the Mt. Gilead Deliverance Tabernacle Church was reported around 5 a.m. Sunday.

Newport News Battalion Chief Jack Carper says the church was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

No injuries were reported.
