CHESTERFIELD, Va. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a fire at the Virginia Department of Transportation's Richmond district complex in Chesterfield County.

Officials say Chesterfield County and Colonial Heights fire departments responded Saturday morning to the fire at the off-site storage building.

The building contains vehicles, administration files and highway signs. Officials say there were no VDOT employees on site prior to the fire and there were no injuries.

District administrator Tom Hawthorne says VDOT doesn't expect the fire to hinder its ability to maintain roads or respond to weather events.
