Former UVa Student Sentenced for Deadly Bowling Pin Beating

A former University of Virginia student who admitting bludgeoning his father with a bowling pin has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Alan Y. Chang was sentenced Thursday in Henrico County Circuit Court for his September manslaughter conviction.

Relatives testified that Chang's father, 47-year-old Jian Zhang, had abused them and Chang said he feared for his life after he was confronted by his father following an argument last January.
