After steadily declining over the last two-and-a-half months, gas prices are back on the rise in Virginia.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports that the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Virginia was $3.21 at the end of last week, an increase of seven cents from the previous week. However, that's still significantly better than the $3.46 per gallon Virginians were paying at the pump a year ago.

The average price ranged from a low of $3.06 in Charlottesville to $3.24 in the Norfolk area.

Nationally, the price increased by a nickel a gallon last week, to $3.38.

Tom Kloza of the Oil Price Information Service says prices probably won't fall again until after Labor day.
