Gov. McDonnell Lends a Hand at the Healing Place

Dec. 24, 2013

A very recognizable volunteer helped out at the Healing Place in Richmond on Christmas Eve.

Governor Bob McDonnell was among those assisting the staff. The Healing Place is a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to the homeless, as well as those in long term addiction recovery programs.

“We've just made this a Christmas Eve tradition a number of years,” said the governor. “ I’ve really been inspired by what Karen Stanley and Bob Slead and the people at the Healing Place have done to take people that come in here with no hope that have no hope, and show them with the love of God, and taking things one day at a time that they can make a difference with their lives and the lives of other people"

Gov. McDonnell says with 20 days left in office, he'll spend his time relaxing with his family and enjoying his last few days in office.
