Governor Bob McDonnell is recognizing the work of free health clinics across the Commonwealth.
Friday, Oct. 4, is Free Clinic Awareness Day in Virginia. The day serves as an opportunity to thank the volunteers and donors who help make medical care available to the community.
The Charlottesville Free Clinic (CFC) provides information on which insurance options are available, but will still provide the services many people rely on.
"We're glad, too, that we're able to get our message out that we're still essential," says CFC Executive Director Erika Viccellio. "We're still necessary and the patients need the services that we're providing today."
Virginia has more than 60 free clinics statewide that provide health services to the community.
