Hearing in Slaying of Orange County Officer Delayed

December 17, 2010

A court review hearing for a woman accused of killing an Orange County police officer has been delayed until January.

The Culpeper Star-Exponent reports that an Orange County judge
rescheduled the hearing for Brenda Canosa on Thursday so a mental health evaluation can be completed. The hearing will now be held Jan. 24.

The 50-year-old Madison County woman is charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in a felony in the fatal shooting of 55-year-old sheriff's investigator Bob Canosa, who was her estranged husband.

Authorities say Bob Canosa was shot five times outside his Unionville residence on Dec. 11, 2009. He died Dec. 20, 2009, at a Charlottesville hospital.
