RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A Henrico County police officer is hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck while crossing a street.

Henrico County Lt. Linda N. Toney says the on-duty officer was responding to a report about a loud party when a vehicle struck him about 11 p.m. Saturday in Henrico.

Toney says the officer was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery. The officer, whose name wasn't released, is a 12-year veteran of the police force.

The vehicle's driver didn't stop. Toney says it doesn't appear that speed or alcohol were a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
