RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan is coming to the University of Richmond next week.
One of President Barack Obama's two picks for the nation's high court is scheduled to visit the Richmond campus on Sept. 20. The 52-year-old associate justice will have what is described as a wide-ranging discussion with the dean of the university's law school, Wendy Perdue, before an audience of faculty, law students and guests.
Obama nominated Kagan to the court in May 2010 and she assumed her role as associate justice on Aug. 7, 2010. She had been serving as solicitor general. She previously served as dean of Harvard Law School, as an associate counsel to President Bill Clinton and as a law clerk to the late Justice Thurgood Marshall.
