Man Arrested at Roanoke Airport, Knives Found in Carry-On

Airport Police charged  Michael Shane Burns with carrying prohibited items after finding a straight-edge razor and a throwing knife in his carry-on bag.

A man is facing charges after security officials at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport found knives in his carry-on bag.

Officials say Transportation Security Administration screeners found multiple bladed weapons – including a straight-edge razor and a throwing knife - while checking 40-year-old Michael Shane Burns’ baggage.

A Roanoke Police spokesperson says airport officers also found a stun gun in the man's possession.

Airport Police charged Burns with carrying prohibited items. He also was charged by Roanoke Police with simple assault and resisting arrest.
