Harrisonburg Man Gets 18 Years in Slaying of Pregnant Woman

March 23, 2012

One of three men charged in connection to the 2010 murder of a pregnant woman pleaded guilty Friday.

Ray Aaron, of Harrisonburg, was charged with capital murder of a pregnant woman, malicious wounding, breaking and entering and using a firearm in commission of a felony as an accomplice to the crime. He pleaded guilty to all but the firearm charge, which was dropped as part of the plea deal.

He will serve 18 years behind bars.

Aaron, Randy Sanchez and Lamar Randolph were indicted in connection to the death of Janet Bonilla. She was found dead in the parking lot of the Harris Gardens Apartment complex on Vine Street Sept. 16, 2010.

Sanchez is charged with capital murder of a pregnant woman, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Randolph pleaded guilty last September to helping Sanchez, the alleged shooter, commit the crime. He was sentenced to 22-and-a-half years behind bars.
