Mitt Romney Gives Commencement Speech in Va

BUENA VISTA, Va. (AP) - Mitt Romney has given the commencement address at Southern Virginia University, telling more than 110 graduating students to live abundant lives that include raising families and serving God.

Romney, a Mormon and Republican presidential nominee who lost to President Barack Obama in November, sprinkled life experiences and quoted Scripture during his message Saturday in front of the university's Main Hall in Buena Vista.

The Roanoke Times ( reports Romney also joked about how the American dream has changed: It's gone from home ownership to "getting the kids out of the home you own."

University leaders also gave Romney an honorary doctorate.
