BRISTOL, Va. (AP) - Construction has begun on a museum recognizing the two Bristols' country music heritage.
The Birthplace of Country Music museum will be located in the former Goodpasture Motors building in downtown Bristol, Va. BurWil Construction has begun the first phase of construction.
BurWil president Bill Prince tells the Bristol Herald-Courier that he believes the museum will be a major economic boost to the region.
Construction is expected to be completed in December 2013. Exhibits are expected to be installed by late summer 2014.
The nonprofit group BCM raised more than $10 million for the project. Developer Steve Johnson donated the 24,000-square-foot building.
