RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A fabricated metal products company is establishing its first Virginia operation, bringing with it 120 jobs to Lynchburg.
Gov. Bob McDonnell announced Monday that Porter's Group LLC has acquired an existing manufacturing plant in Lynchburg and will invest $1.8 million to upgrade it. It will produce fabricated metal products such as safes and related products and parts.
Porter's Group is a Bessemer City, N.C., company that has five locations throughout the Southeast. The Lynchburg plant will provide it access to new markets in the Mid-Atlantic states.
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with city officials to snare Porter's Group. McDonnell approved a $300,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund to assist Lynchburg officials with the project.
