NC Man Charged in Bus Crash Brought to Va. Jail

March 10, 2012

A North Carolina dispatcher has been brought to Virginia to face charges stemming from a bus wreck that killed four passengers.

The Free Lance-Star reports 41-year-old Zhao Jian Chen of Greensboro, N.C., was extradited to Hanover County's Pamunkey Regional Jail on Thursday from Guilford County, N.C.

Chen was arrested Feb. 17. He is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Caroline County for a hearing on four charges of involuntary manslaughter.

Caroline County Commonwealth's Attorney Tony Spencer says Chen told Sky Express bus driver Kin Yiu Cheung of New York to continue driving after Cheung told him he was too tired to drive. Cheung's bus swerved off Interstate 95 about 30 miles north of Richmond, hit an embankment and overturned on May 31, 2011.

Cheung also faces involuntary manslaughter charges.
