A new economic forecast shows some positive news for Virginia compared to the rest of the U.S
Chmura Economics and Analytics predicts the national recovery will slowly carry on at its current pace and Virginia will move on slightly better.
The report also says Virginia’s unemployment rate will stay where it is despite the state’s lag in creating jobs.
The local Chamber of Commerce is pleased with the overall report but is taking a more optimistic approach on the jobs front.
“In the chamber business, we’re optimists. We tend to believe very positively in our community and the future. We’re not in this business to be undertakers, we’re here to celebrate where we’re going forward,” said Tim Hulbert, Charlottesville Chamber of Commerce.
Hulber says the economic troubles in Europe can have an impact in Virginia. The looming monetary collapse overseas can impact many local companies that do business in foreign countries.
