New Pro Bono Management System Set for Va.

June 30, 2012

Virginia's system of providing free legal services to the poor is expected to improve as a result of a new online case management system making a limited debut next week.

Justice Server eventually will allow lawyers statewide to log onto their office computer and select a pro bono case fed into the system by legal aid organizations. Lawyers will be able to instantly search for the type of case they are interested in handling and will have access to the case file with the click of a mouse.

Steve Dickinson of the Central Virginia Legal Aid Society says the system will replace cumbersome procedures involving paper lists, the phone, fax machines and the U.S. mail.

Three legal aid organizations will begin feeding data into the system Monday.
