Officials are investigating a noose found hanging from a tree at a suburban Richmond high school.

Henrico County School Division spokesman Mychael Dickerson says students and school administrators discovered the noose Wednesday evening at Varina High School after an event at the school.

School officials filed a police report and Varina's principal sent students and parents emails about the incident.

Dickerson says school officials are seeking more information, and those responsible could face disciplinary action and possibly criminal charges, depending on the results of the investigation.
