NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Norfolk State University is investigating allegations of hazing against members of the cheerleading team.

Vice president of student affairs Ed Willis tells WAVY-TV that the cheerleading team's activities have been halted while the university investigates the allegations.

Alexander Nicholson tells WAVY that his daughter and other new members of the cheerleading team were forced to hold weights. He says they also were put in a dark room and told not to leave while the campus celebrated homecoming week with a bonfire.
