One Dead in Augusta Co. Moped Crash

A Staunton man died Saturday afternoon after a two-vehicle wreck in Augusta County.

The crash happened at the intersection of Route 662 and 604. Virginia State Police say a moped pulled across Route 662 from Route 604 into the path of a Toyota pickup truck. The truck swerved to avoid the moped, but the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the moped, 47-year-old Marshall Justice of Staunton, was thrown from his vehicle an died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

Richard Trippeer, 35, of Greenville, was driving the pickup and was not injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
