Authorities say three York County men have been charged with assaulting an off-duty deputy sheriff.
Poquoson police say the incident occurred July 4 at Owens Marina when the York-Poquoson deputy and another man tried to refuel their boat. An argument between those men and a group of men on another boat led to the fight.
A caller reported the fight to police and said the suspects left the scene in a boat named "High Pressure."
According to police, 20-year-old Brent Byrum, 22-year-old Brandon Byrum and 20-year-old Joshua White were arrested Saturday. All three are charged with mob violence. The Byrums also are charged with malicious wounding, and White is charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer.
