Poor Mountain Brush Fire Believed to be Man-Made

March 19, 2012

Firefighters have contained a brush fire that has burned about 22 acres on the Fort Lewis side of Poor Mountain.

Virginia Department of Forestry spokesman Jon Willoughby tells The Roanoke Times that the fire was about 90 percent contained Sunday. He says it could take three to four days to fully contain the fire.

The fire was reported early Friday. Investigators believe the cause is man-made.
