October 7, 2010

A free state disposal program has rid Virginia of more than 70,000 pounds of pesticides this year.

The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Virginia Pesticide Control Board say 55,616 pounds of liquid pesticides and 14,894 pounds of solid pesticides were collected and destroyed.

The agencies announced the results of the 2010 Pesticide Disposal Program on Thursday.

Eligible participants include agricultural producers, licensed pesticide dealers and pest control firms, golf courses and homeowners.
