Albemarle County schools pitched hundreds of cartons of milk after a recall notice.
The recall started last week when two school systems near Richmond reported dozens of kids getting sick after drinking Marva Maid milk.
Virginia Department of Health lab tests found high rates of coliform bacteria in the milk there and the company voluntarily recalled thousands of cartons.
Last Wednesday, an Albemarle Co. student reported a carton of milk that had an odd taste, the county then inspected the rest of the supply.
On Friday, May 30, Albemarle Co. schools got the recall notice. Nearly 300 cartons ended up being thrown out and there were no reports of any kids getting sick.
Only cartons with expiration dates between May 28 and June 2 are affected.
