The Fluvanna Board of Supervisors voted on Wednesday to restore $65,000 to JAUNT enabling some level of public transportation to remain in Fluvanna County. Donna Shaunesey, Executive Director of JAUNT thanked the Fluvanna community members and the Board of Supervisors for all their support. JAUNT Inc. is a regional transportation system providing service to the citizens of Albemarle, Buckingham, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Louisa, and Nelson counties.
"It really made a difference. Although we are grateful for the $65,000, it fell short of the $107,118 that we needed to maintain the service as it exists today. Unfortunately, this will mean that we will have to reduce service in Fluvanna starting July 1. We will dig deep and try to keep the transportation that is most beneficial to our current passengers and to the citizens of Fluvanna,” said Shaunesey.
Organized in 1975, JAUNT maintains an exemplary record of safety, cost efficiency, and high quality service, and is recognized both statewide and nationally for its performance record.
