HENRY, Va. (AP) - Remains found in a burned vehicle in Franklin County have been identified as those of a missing Henry County woman.

Police tell media outlets that 53-year-old Vicky Harbour Purdy's husband reported her missing earlier this month. She was last seen on Oct. 3.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says a passer-by discovered the vehicle on Oct. 6 in a remote area near the Franklin-Henry County line while looking at property that's for sale.

The investigation is continuing.
