Richmond city officials say two police officers investigated for allegedly making inappropriate comments during President Barack Obama's last visit to Richmond in May are no longer employed by the city.
A spokesman for Mayor Dwight C. Jones' office said Friday that the two officers ended their employment with the city on July 6. It was unclear whether they were fired or left on their own accord.
The move followed recommendations from police officials and an internal investigation after Obama's May 5 stop at Virginia Commonwealth University's Siegel Center.
City and police officials couldn't provide details of the investigation or the nature of the comments.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that federal agents determined that the remarks were not criminal in nature and considered the matter resolved.
