A former Roanoke transit official has pleaded guilty to theft of government money.
The Roanoke Times reports that former Valley Metro general manager Dave Morgan pleaded guilty Friday in federal court.
Prosecutors say Morgan billed the bus system more than $14,000 for personal expenses, including meals and entertainment, from 2007 to 2008. Nearly half of the dinner bills were for beer and wine.
City auditor Drew Harmon discovered the expenses in 2009.
Morgan faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 at sentencing in September.
