Robbery Suspect Shot by Va. Beach Police Dies

A Norfolk man shot by Virginia Beach police during a chase has died.

Virginia Beach police tell media outlets that 33-year-old Daniel Guy Newcomb was a suspect in a robbery attempt.

Police say Newcomb fled the scene in a vehicle and officers chased him until his vehicle hit another one. Newcomb then fled on foot and fired several shots at the officers. One of the officers shot him.

The incident occurred Saturday afternoon and Newcomb died Sunday. The shooting remains under investigation.
