School Safety Task Force Meet

January 15, 2013

Governor Bob McDonnell wants to make sure nothing like the Sandy Hook school shooting ever happens in Virginia.

Monday, his newly appointed school safety task force, met for the first time. It includes more than forty public safety experts, teachers, mental health professionals and even students.

Allen Hill, a member of the task force, is very familiar with this kind of tragedy. Hill’s daughter was killed in the Virginia Tech shooting.

"It's pretty special,” said Hill. “ We consider this, my wife and I really said yes to this. Obviously you have a lot of professionals and people equipped to do a lot of this here, so I don't know what all we add, other than to listen, support what's going on here."

The biggest concern for some members of the task force, are how they will pay for new safety measures.
