Security Under Review Following Va. Day-care Attack

October 27, 2010

Officials at a Roanoke building say they'll review security measures after a knife attack on a worker at a day-care center.

The worker was attacked Tuesday at the Downtown Learning Center. The day care is located within the nonprofit Jefferson Center for the performing arts.

Police told "The Roanoke Times" that a man with a knife walked through an unlocked door to Jefferson Center and attacked the worker in a vending machine area before fleeing. The area is down the hall from a locked area for children.

Police say the worker was cut on a finger.

Jefferson Center Executive Director Cyrus Pace and day-care President Mike Angelillo says security measures are being reviewed.
