A Harrisonburg company that provides fresh herbs to markets throughout the East has completed a $3 million USDA-certified organic greenhouse.
Agriculture Commissioner Matt Lohr was to be on hand Monday to celebrate the expansion at Shenandoah Growers, which is also adding 31 jobs.
The 75,000-square-foot greenhouse will provide a year-round harvest of organic herbs. The company says demand is growing for fresh herbs, and Shenandoah Growers has seen an 800 percent increase in sale over the past 10 years. It now employs 150.
To mark the expansion, Shenandoah Growers donated $2,500 to the Friendly City Food Co-op of Harrisonburg.
